Celebrate National Margarita Day with Casa Mexico + Mario and Courtney Lopez

#Travel & Events
Here at Casa México we’re getting ready to celebrate one of our most favorite days of the year: National Margarita Day. Every February 22nd we break out our finest margarita glasses, cue up the limes and line up our premium tequilas. It’s like we were born for this day..
Now, normally you think of margaritas for Cinco De Mayo (and of course, we come prepared with the margaritas on that day too) but, we’re willing to bet everyone could use a margarita or two at the end of February!
Margaritas are the most popular cocktail in North America for a reason, it’s a refreshing combination of sweetness balanced with bitter acid from the limes and salt. In its classic form it’s a combination of tequila, lime juice and orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec), served with a salted rim either poured on the rocks or blended.
Although the origins of the cocktail are inconclusive, legend has it that the margarita was invented at a restaurant, Rancho La Gloria, in Tijuana Mexico in the late 1930s. The cocktail was reportedly created for former Zigfield dancer Marjorie King who was allergic to many other spirits. Luckily for us, the creation gained popularity in San Diego, and then nationally, in the 1940s..
This year, we want to put a refreshing spin on this classic and we’ve enlisted help from Casa México partner Mario Lopez and his wife, Courtney, to share one of their favorite recipes for a Cracked Pepper Cucumber Margarita, which is smooth, crisp, and not too sweet and worthy of this celebratory day. Their easy recipe will impress even the toughest margarita connoisseurs with minimal effort..
Casa México Tequila’s Recipe for Crack Pepper Cucumber Margarita.
4 Muddled Cucumbers slices
3/4 oz Lime
1 oz Agave Syrup (Mix Agave and distilled water at a 1:1 ratio)
2 oz Casa México Tequila
Double strain
Garnish with cracked pepper and cucumber wheel and lime wheel/wedge.
Any of Casa México’s tequilas will work for the base of this margarita recipe, but we’d recommend our Blanco tequila. Blanco is naturally fermented and double distilled in stainless steel pot stills without aging leaving it remarkably smooth and crystal clear. It’s crisp with notes of sweet citrus and finishes with hints of spice..
We hope you enjoy this recipe and celebrate National Margarita Day with us on February 22. Salud from our familia to yours!
